Carey Overstreet, Certified Health Coach

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Welcome!  I am Carey Overstreet, Certified Health Coach and Recreational Therapist.

For twenty-two years, I had my dream job of managing programs for people with disabilities enhancing their lives through sports, fitness, arts, special events and more.  It has been a pleasure working with thousands of wonderful families, Littleton Public Schools, Craig Hospital, recreation centers and countless agencies to promote health and independence for people of all abilities.

I grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota with a single mom and my older brother.  As kids, we were very active and involved in many sports.  During my senior year of high school, I worked at a fast-food restaurant and for the first time in my life, I didn’t play any sports. After a few months of eating fast food and getting less activity, I gained twenty pounds.  One day, a customer made a comment about my tight pants.  I was so embarrassed that I immediately went on an extreme diet and exercise routine losing twenty pounds in one month!  That was the start of my five-year intermittent battle with eating disorders.  Throughout this time, I was also in a bad rollover car accident and then an unhealthy relationship.  At this point, you could say, I hit rock bottom.  Even while struggling with some depression, I had a strong desire to cure myself.  I read books on eating disorders and learned to manage my emotions, my nutrition and my insecurities.  I also found the courage to end the unhealthy relationship and discovered that self-love must always come first!

In my mid-thirties, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.  My thyroid was extremely out of control throughout my first pregnancy causing sleepless nights, racing heart, anxiety and more.  After my pregnancy, my thyroid was stabilized with more medication.  After my second pregnancy, I was prescribed a long-term medication and I broke out in hives.  My doctor said the medication wasn’t causing the hives then prescribed allergy pills to deal with it.  After a month of taking more pills, I decided this wasn’t how I wanted to live.  I took control of my own health without medication and a few weeks later, the hives disappeared.  With the help of books and research, I changed my mindset, improved my diet, exercised consistently and this decision was life changing.  My thyroid has been under control for fifteen years through proper Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition!  Eventually, this lead me to becoming a Certified Health Coach through the Dr. William Sears Wellness Institute.

My strong desire and passion for personal growth, health, fitness, nutrition and empowerment has helped me overcome many obstacles!  I thrive on empowering other women to put themselves first so they too can enjoy the benefits of living their happiest, healthiest, most empowered and fulfilling lives!  Putting yourself first is not selfish, it’s the only way to be your best for everyone else.

It’s your turn to take that first step and fill in the gap of where you are now and where you want to be.  Reach out today to schedule a free call.  Your best life is waiting on the other side of fear.  Success doesn’t come easy and you are an amazing, strong, beautiful badass and are worth the investment.

Love Yourself, Invest in Health!
